Hello everyone,
Here is this week’s show
I. Talking with Mariel Hemingway about her new book Mariel’s Kitchen.
Finding the Sacred in Food.
-the power of the ancient ritual of “breaking bread” with another person
-eating –not to survive, but to thrive
-the importance of being conscious of what we eat and how we eat it
-the aesthetics of a beautifully set table and what it does to your soul
-being aware of how you feel while cooking the meal for your family:
DO NOT cook while angry, resentful or scared. These emotions will permeate
the food you cook.
Instead - cook when joyful and filled with gratitude
-the importance of bringing back into your life a simple tradition of
inviting friends to your home and treating them to a home-cooked meal
II. Why Interventions Don’t Work.
-people change when THEY want to change, not when they are told to change
-interfering with the person’s path and free will while
being sure you know “what’s best” is both pointless and wrong .
Pointless, because it doesn’t work, it can’t work and it never will work.
And wrong, because it is a one-up, “better than” position, no matter how “good” your intentions
may appear.
One thing to remember: what looks obvious – usually is not.
If this makes you raise your eye brows – listen to the rest of the show:).
